Sebastiano Dessanay wrote the original music for the short film The Drop by Zbigniew Tomasz Kotkiewicz (Synergy Collective). The Drop was screened at The Flea Pit, 49 Columbia Road, London E2 7RG, on 11th March at 7.30pm; at Candid Projection Room, Candid Galleries, 3, Torrens Street, London, EC1V 1NQ, on 15th April at 7pm; at the Portobello Film Festival, Westbourne Studios, on 7th September at 6-11pm.
‘The Drop’ is a meditation on art, activism and immigration in the 21st Century. Two individuals from different worlds struggle to safe guard their identities and articulate their beliefs, one through art the other through activism. Both face personal failure and, more significantly, suppression by the political and economic system in which they live. The Painter, a naïve newcomer, examines and embraces everything he encounters including the distant and purposeful Activist, a figure he, by chance, runs into on his arrival. Despite their difference and the equal lack of security surrounding their lives, they become unified through their determination to express themselves.
